“Hey Wasim” (who lives in still-kinda-wintery Bend), “Can you make it to Depoe Bay? We have a condo on the beach that needs to be shot for the owners.”
Knowing in my heart full well there was no way I was going to say no, naturally, I pushed it: ‘Can I stay the night?’
Silence (that felt like an hour but was just short of 3 seconds).
“Sure thing. No worries. Enjoy the space and the sounds of the ocean!”

I had a week of work scheduled in Portland shooting for Airbnb, so figured a day and night and half day in Depoe Bay on the Oregon Coast wouldn’t be a bad ‘detour’ on my way from Bend. Dunno what it is, but there’s something about that fresh ocean air and falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of waves crashing along the lava rock laden shore mere meters from my head…jus’ somethin’ about it…
